Problems & Background

Most people in this world are taught to eat meat from birth, but as they age and their perceptions of themselves and the outside world change, people realize that they have the right to choose a diet that is more suitable for their mind or body. Respecting the eating habits of vegetarians and improving their eating experience is the main idea of our app. We believe that every type of eating habit deserves to be served and respected.

According to the March 2021 report on the vegan and plant-based food landscape by global market research firm Euromonitor International, Going Plant-Based: The Rise of Vegan and Vegetarianism, while the global vegan population remains a minority, an increasing number of Try to minimize consumption of animal products for a balanced diet. This group of "flexitarians", who already account for 42% of the global population in 2020, do not reject animal-based products, but are trying to eat more plant-based products or vegetables. According to recent estimates, there are nearly 100 million vegans worldwide, and their dietary health issues should also be taken seriously.

Competitive Analysis

We conducted competitive analysis based on products of the same type to understand people's evaluations and needs of existing products, and summed up the advantages and characteristics of these products, so as to clarify our research direction and theme.

User Research

We need to get enough information from the user survey to support the follow-up functional design direction. One is to fully understand the evaluation and needs of vegetarians for existing related products, and the other is to understand the most urgent problems faced by vegetarians through these needs. The problem that needs to be solved, the third is to understand the inner thoughts of people who want to try vegetarian food and what is preventing them from taking this step.

Main research methods: Questionnaires, one-on-one interviews

Research Framework 4.png

Interview Quotes

We've created a more relaxed interview environment and more open questions so that interviewers can speak freely. In the interview, we intercepted some representative speeches for research.

Content Analysis

After getting enough information, we constructed persona and user behavior graphs to categorize, combine and summarize these perspectives and thoughts from different perspectives of respondents.

Persona 6.png

Through the user behavior map, we can see that most of the emotional fluctuations and difficulties are concentrated in the two steps of planning and purchasing. People usually spend a lot of time and energy thinking about what is worth buying and where to buy.

Target users and Summary

Finally, we determined the target user group and summarized the following main pain points and needs.

After brainstorming and discussions among team members, we listed possible solutions for the above pain points and needs.

Design Phase

Functional Design

For the above solutions, we designed the overall functions of the APP and prioritized them according to the needs of users, and determined the primary and secondary relationship between functions.

Visual Design

After comprehensive consideration, we chose white and green as our theme colors. Green is the color that best represents plants, while white symbolizes purity and simplicity. We think these two colors are very suitable for our theme. In the design of the LOGO, we continued to use the symbol of plants, and redesigned the appearance of plants growing in the land with a simple style. After determining the theme color, we confirmed the selection of key type and font.

System Map and Flow Chart

In this step we need to understand how the different service components and roles are connected to each other to highlight their value. And to pre-plan the user's usage process, we use system map and flow chart to assist in the design.

Reflection

During the course of the project, most of the expected functions have been met, and the user tests have responded well. In the next version update, we will focus on the UI structure of the entire interface, and try to add more functions, such as calorie and nutrition calculators.
